Horse riding - riding centres, Somerset is a large equestrian area, there are plenty of local stables with hourly rides or daily treks up on the Quantock hills.
Bird watching - Bridgwater Bay Nature Reserve (20 minute drive) This is an Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty, fantastic views across to Wales, lovely place to walk, nice little beach area for the children.
Cycling - River Parrett Trail (10 minute drive), www.riverparrett-trail.org.uk You can either walk or cycle the River Parrett trail, taking you through the town and out into the countryside.
